Mobility Sessions

Bromsgrove Sports Development have created mobility exercise classes for older people, designed to improve their balance, strength and quality of life.

Lickey & Blackwell Tree Lighting Competitions

CALLING ALL BUDDING ARTISTS AND POETS! Once again, the Parish Council is launching the tree lighting competitions at Lickey and Blackwell.

There are 3 age groups this year;

Aged 4 and Under
Aged 5 to 10
Aged 11 and over.

Entries (no bigger than A4 size please) can be a poem, a drawing, a painting - or even a photograph - the theme of which this year is "The Four Seasons in Our Parish". Entries can be posted in the special collection boxes at Lickey Primary School, Blackwell First School, and Montessori Nursery School on Greenhill. Alternatively, they can be sent to Mrs J Casey, Parish Clerk, at "Lyn Croft", 300 Old Birmingham Road, Lickey B45 8ES.

The closing date for all entries is Friday 21st November, and the winners will be announced at the tree lighting ceremonies which will take place on
For Blackwell entries - Friday December 5th at 6pm for Blackwell - at the Methodist Church Hall on Greenhill
For Lickey entries - Sunday 7th December at 5pm at Trinity Centre (Lickey Parish Hall) on Old Birmingham Road at 5pm

Remember to include your name and age on the reverse of your entry. Good Luck!

How much do we want a rail station?

Hi everyone,
Waiting today at Barnt Green for a train, which did not come (points failure near Longbridge) and then discovering that there would be nearly two hours to wait for the 145 bus to Cotteridge, gave me time to think about the problems of rural transport. Should I abandon the planned trip to Birmingham and have a coffee at Deli on the Green or pop in to see a friend ...or should I stay true to my principles and shout from the rooftops (or at least blog quietly) that rural transport in this country is in an underfunded mess and needs a good shake up?....Parish plan after parish plan  is asking for better buses and even rail stations but we get as far as the  service providers or Network Rail and the answer is`It does not fit in with our commercial plans` or `There is no business case`.. in other words size matters and your village just isn`t big enough. Surely just 30 cars per day off the roads and putting passengers into trains would help
If anyone wants to start a blog on this subject please reply to me and we`ll find out what we can do to reduce Lickey and Blackwell`s transport carbon footprint.
