Temporary One-Way System through Blackwell

Over the weekend of 3rd - 5th July, Blackwell Court on Agmore Road will be hosting a large event for the Birmingham Scout Association.

In order to try and minimise the impact of traffic coming on and off the site, there will be a compulsory one-way system in place where all vehicles (apart from the emergency services) will only be permitted to go down Station Road, along Agmore Road and down Blackwell Road until it meets Alcester Road opposite the garden centre.

The restrictions will be in place at the following times;

Friday 3rd July from 7.15pm until 9.00pm, and again on
Sunday 5th July from 4.30pm until 6.30pm.

Residents Meeting No4 - Health and Leisure

Our next Residents Meeting will be held on Saturday 9th May 2009, at Hunters Hill Technology College, Blackwell We will start the event with a presentation by Emma Barton, the Health Improvement Co-ordinator at BDC, who inform us of the regions health and initiatives that are being introduced. More local input will be given on the benefits of joining a group as a positive leisure pursuit. Leisure and health groups will have a stand/table to display there activities and generally encourage residents to become involved. Parish Walk - 17th May

Reminder - PACT Meeting for Lickey and Barnt Green

The meeting will be held on Thursday 16th April 2009 at the Quaker Meeting Rooms in Barnt Green, starting at 7pm. If you want to raise any concerns or issues this is a super opportunity of engaging with local parish, district and county councillors as well as the police.

There was a very low turnout at the last meeting. Hopefully this means that there are no concerns with local residents!

Lickey & Blackwell Parish Poet writes Film Script

Our Parish Poet in Residence, Giovanni Esposita - AKA "Spoz" - has penned the script to a short film called "Waiting in Rhyme", which made the big screen recently. Starring Les Dennis, Geoffrey Hughes, Don Maclean and Sally Lindsay -  to name but a few of the stars who willingly gave their time freely - it was filmed at Hillscourt Conference Centre on Rose Hill – so all in all, a real “local” production! All proceeds from the sale of the DVD are to go to Macmillan Nurses. It is now available to buy at www.poetryfilm.com.

 

February Parish Council Meeting - DELAYED due to weather conditions

Due to the current wintry weather conditions currently being experienced and expected, we have postponed the Parish Council Meeting due Tuesday 3rd February 2009 for one week to Tuesday 10th February 2009. Times and location remain unchanged - 7:30pm at Blackwell Methodist Church Hall.

Road Closure - Alvechurch Highway

We have this week been advised by Worcestershire County Council that a 605m stretch of Alvechurch Highway heading in an easterly direction from the junction with Marlbrook Lane will be closed for overhead cable works. We are advised that the work is expected to commence on 2nd March for around 10 weeks (although it may be longer).

Reminder: Residents Meeting Saturday 31st January

The third of our popular residents meetings will be held this coming Saturday. The topic for this meeting is 'Transport and Housing' and is being held between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 31 January 2009 at the Blackwell Social Club.

If you are a resident of Lickey or Blackwell we warmly welcome your attendance and active participation.

Double Yellow Lines

Eagle-eyed residents may have noticed some new double yellow lines on Old Birmingham Road in Lickey. They were installed 21st January opposite the entrance to High House Drive and at the entrance of Malvern Road, to help facilitate safe entry to and exit from these residential streets, especially during the busy school run times.

Further evidence of the results obtained by the Parish Council Highways Group working with residents, police (WPC Jayne Willetts), our supportive county councillor (Cllr. Peter McDonald), Worcestershire highways department, and the local PACT group.
