Reminder: Residents Meeting Saturday 31st January

The third of our popular residents meetings will be held this coming Saturday. The topic for this meeting is 'Transport and Housing' and is being held between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 31 January 2009 at the Blackwell Social Club.

If you are a resident of Lickey or Blackwell we warmly welcome your attendance and active participation.

Double Yellow Lines

Eagle-eyed residents may have noticed some new double yellow lines on Old Birmingham Road in Lickey. They were installed 21st January opposite the entrance to High House Drive and at the entrance of Malvern Road, to help facilitate safe entry to and exit from these residential streets, especially during the busy school run times.

Further evidence of the results obtained by the Parish Council Highways Group working with residents, police (WPC Jayne Willetts), our supportive county councillor (Cllr. Peter McDonald), Worcestershire highways department, and the local PACT group.

Once again we are sorry that the current website isn't compatible for a number of the browsers out there. When we launched the site it was one of the first parish council websites and IE was the dominant browser. Our publicity group are planning a new, more accessible website.

Dates of Meetings in 2009

The dates of the Parish Council Meetings for 2009 are as follows.  For those in Blackwell, they will take place at the Methodist Church Hall on Greenhill.  Lickey meetings will take place at the Trinity centre (formerly Lickey Parish Hall) on Old Birmingham Road. Meetings commence at 7.30pm, with Councillors available for consultation from 7.15pm onwards.  All members of the community are invited to attend.

Mobility Sessions

Bromsgrove Sports Development have created mobility exercise classes for older people, designed to improve their balance, strength and quality of life.

Significant Maintenance Work - M5 jn4 to jn4a

We have been advised by the Highways Agency of major street light renewal, junction improvement schemes, and carriageway resurfacing on the above stretch of the M5.

The street lighting works and Lydiate Ash Island (jn4) are due to commence on 5th January 2009 and are programmed to last until May 2009. At that stage the resurfacing work will commence and proceed until mid July 2009.

Temporary Road Closure - Greenhill

We have been advised by Worcestershire County Council that Greenhill will be subject to temporary closures between St Catherine's Road and Alcester Road for essential resurfacing works. It is expected that the work will commence 19th January for around 9 days.
